Drugs, a loaded word filled with numerous bad and good connotations depending on who you are, what you’ve been told, and what you’ve experienced on them. Almost everyone tries drugs, many of us become addicted, and a few of us use them beneficially. Very few of us understand them despite their prevalence and power.
At their most basic, drugs change our bodily chemistry, shifting things into a different gear. This makes them very powerful because they change us from the inside out.
The wide world of drugs includes everything from steroids to cannabis to nootropics, all having very different effects. Not all drugs are made equal. They have very different effects on health, addiction, and your state of body and mind.
Technically, drugs include both psychoactive and non-psychoactive ones. At UpRiver, we mostly discuss the psychoactive category – the ones that affect your mind.
Drugs should really be thought of as tools. They can be used for good or for bad. Generally, there are no bad drugs, only bad use, however certain drugs do appear to be more harmful than beneficial.
For better or worse, drugs have a powerful ability to alter our habits. If you are taking drugs, take them wisely.
Welcome to the world of drugs as it exists on UpRiver.
